A Moment is a performance-installation created in collaboration with painter Deanna Sirlin, commissioned by the city of Atlanta.
In Woodruff Park, there is a fountain: a 4 m high and 40 m long waterfall. For a performance realised on the evening of 4 October 2002, I gave voice to this wall of water immersed in a downtown park of a major metropolis to accompany the colours of the abstract figures that Deanna had prepared by placing a huge coloured cloth along the entire fountain.
The soundtrack lasted a total of three hours and, spread over eight channels distributed along the entire length of the wall of water, was conceived as a sound walk; listeners could walk through the score that mixed, in trompe l'oreille, other sounds of water and urban noises with musical fragments, electronic sounds synthesised with the Genesis synthesis programme for physical models of ACROE in Grenoble, fragments of radio broadcasts and recordings made in construction sites and steel plants.
