In the Cage is, of course, a tribute to John Cage. It is curious that Cage, the surname of perhaps the freest composer in the history of music, means, in effect, cage. The cage here is the four notes of his surname: C, A, G and E.
It has been done many times for the name BACH, but I know no other pieces on the name CAGE. The piece is composed by alternating antiphonally two sections: one that, following inflexible rules, leads little by little to the formulation of the simple four-note melody, the other that, following a free and lyrical path, arrives at the same formulation.

In the Cage è, ovviamente, un omaggio a John Cage. E' curioso che Cage, il cognome del compositore forse più libero della storia della musica, significhi "gabbia". La gabbia qui è quella delle quattro note del suo cognome: Do (C), La (A), Sol (G), Mi (E).
Si è fatto molte volte per il nome BACH, non conosco invece altri brani sul nome CAGE. Il brano è composto alternando antifonalmente due sezioni: una che, seguendo regole inflessibili, conduce poco a poco alla formulazione della semplice melodia di quattro note, l’altra che, seguendo un percorso libero e lirico, giunge alla stessa formulazione.
