Low5 Music is an audio-art project for a Low5 (not-Hi-Fi 5 channels, see n.4) sound diffusion systems, a standard reference for cinema halls (compatible with AV domestic equipment). The aim of this project is to create at the same time a repertoire, new spaces and occasions for new music and audio-art.
1 - Repertoire will be created through selection (competition, call for artworks) and commissions to audio-artist/composers. A renown renewable international jury will choose periodically among different propositions.
2 - Spaces and time (occasions) will be cinema hall in the while between succeeding movie's seances (interseances).
3 - Any audio-work will be short in the range of a proposed standard duration related with the exigence of the interseance specific situation. I personally expect it could be between 40 and 70 secs.
4 - Low5 means "5 channels not-hi-fi" audio diffusion system. Any audio-works intended for Low5 Music must be conceived in acceptance of technical features of standard professional 5 channel audio diffusion systems: frequency and dynamic response, compression factors, localization and number of speakers etc.
5 - Being the focus on listening but considering the visual context of a cinema hall it will be accepted/suggested/imposed a simple video part accompanying the audio-work with the only aim to document itself and to explain the concept of Low5 Music project.
