At the same time, the Dutch artist Folkert de Jong prepared an exhibition in October at the USF Gallery entitled Meet Me and Mister Beefy, in which he satirically and grotesquely reinterpreted the main character of a famous TV puppet story; a talking bulldog with a mean and wry air.
I decided to give voice to Mr. Beefy using a voice synthesis programme in a simple but extreme way: the voice, diffused in the exhibition rooms where the artificially coloured and garish polyurethane foam figures lived, is a grotesque and outlandish sound, somewhere between a dog trying to speak a non-existent language and a drunken ventriloquist.
