The title "Natura Morta" refers to the pictorial genre that in English is called 'Still life'. In English Still means still, and Stille in German means silence. Still Life with Mirror expresses itself within the limits of stillness and silence: it begins with an ecstatic, frozen Adagio built of long, isolated sounds and ends with a Canon that expands a melody, towards the high and low notes, beyond the limits of human hearing.
I do not use electronics in this composition to create new sounds or to spread sounds in space, somewhat I try to create a subtly artificial, seemingly natural sound world. The use of electronics includes small doses of amplification, delays of unmodified sounds (to isolate them from the instrumental gesture that produced them) as well as slight (unnatural) colorations of natural sounds: stonings, reverberations, vibratos, filtering.
The electronic treatment is here a mirror that leads one to reflect on the act of musical listening, offering new opportunities to penetrate it in its complexity. It is also a stimulus for the listener to seek out the subtle hidden 'trompe l'oreille'.
"Natura Morta con Specchio" was composed and realized in 1994 at the Experimental Studio der Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung des SWF Freiburg' and is dedicated to André Richard.

Il titolo "Natura morta" fa riferimento al genere pittorico che in inglese si chiama "Still life". In inglese Still significa immobile, Stille in tedesco significa silenzio. Natura morta con specchio si esprime all'interno dei limiti d’immobilità e silenzio: inizia con un Adagio estatico e congelato costruito di suoni lunghi e isolati e si conclude con un Canone che espande una melodia, verso l'acuto ed il grave, al di là dei limiti dell'ascolto umano.
Non uso l'elettronica in questa composizione per creare nuovi suoni o per diffondere i suoni nello spazio, cerco piuttosto di creare un mondo sonoro sottilmente artificiale, apparentemente naturale. L'uso dell'elettronica comprende piccole dosi di amplificazione, ritardi di suoni non modificati (per isolarli dal gesto strumentale che li ha prodotti) così come leggere colorature (innaturali) di suoni naturali: stonature, reverberi, vibrati, filtraggi.
Il trattamento elettronico è qui uno specchio che porta a riflettere sull'atto dell'ascolto musicale offrendo nuove occasioni di penetrarlo nella sua complessità. E' anche uno stimolo per l'ascoltatore a cercare i sottili "trompe l'oreille" nascosti. Natura morta con specchio è stata composta e realizzata nel 1994 presso l'Experimental Studio der Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung des SWF Freiburg' ed è dedicata ad André Richard.
