Human loudspeakers - Living radios
Living radios is a part of the larger project Human Loudspeakers whose topic idea is to use human being as a source of sounds through a polyphonic coordination realized uniquely via audio headphones: the voice primarily, then the body and, maybe, objects used to expand these main two. (*1)
In the chain, using human and technological units, of communication, last device for music is today quite always the electrical transducer of the loudspeaker: always live acoustical music very often amplification.
From this the idea to have as last step of this communication a human loudspeaker.
A first example happened last year in a contemporary art museum in Torino (Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo): in those case I conceived an evening long performance, happening during other events in the whole space, whose title was “Radio Tre Live”: some persons wearing headphones connected to a portable radio tuned to RAI Radio Tre (the cultural channel of national broadcast), walk all around trying to reproduce with the voice the radio program. Everyone having a mp3 player o self phone with radio can tune on same channel adding to he human loudspeakers orchestra. After a while a kind of of coordination, particularly in case of music, was spontaneously organized between the performers.
The Living Radio event could happen everywhere in every moment, as a spontaneous participative performance or can be coordinated on a larger scale (a big flash mob square/city/region/nation/world wide) by a radio broadcast on a specific palimpsest.
