Testo Italiano in basso
I remember a sign in an underground: 'silence = death'.
In Italian Still life is Natura Morta (Dead Nature).
The dictionary says: Still = not moving or making a sound.
Still life = still and silent life.
Sound and life are movement and death is a still image.
A statue of a dancer is a frozen dance: timelessly filling a space.
I have to fill a space occupied by frozen movement with sound; an icebox, a closed, underground space, a crypt.
I chose water music (Berio's Wasserklavier, Telemann's Wasser Musik, Haendel's Water Music) I mixed and froze it with a fragment of Vivaldi's Inverno.
Fragments of other pieces return on Wasserklavier's chaconne: frozen dances, distant horn blasts (the din of predators overcomes the silence of the prey), icy and desolate landscapes, fragments of fugue, interrupted phrases.
Possenelli's dancer is shy, she wants to dance alone: when others arrive, she stops; or perhaps the music has ended, leaving her suspended.

Testo Italiano
Ricordo una scritta in una metropolitana: “silence = death”.
In inglese Natura morta è Still life. Il dizionario riporta: Still = not moving or making a sound.
Natura morta = vita immobile e silenziosa.
