Strange Live at
Strange [group] Live at [somewhere] is an audio-video project that complements the performative nature of Strange Project, that combines electronics with different chamber instrumental formations (duo, trio, quartet, ....) in live performance.1 The term Strange was chosen for the assonance, in English, with the term String: String Quartet, String Trio, etc.
After the first2 concerts I have extended the concept to other performances/happenings/musical-installations.
Strange Live at is an audio-video project that complements the performative nature of the project. The title refers to the film: Pink Floyd live at Pompei.
Strange Live at project includes a series of videos:
• duration: similar for each video (between 4 and 7 minutes)
• format: audio and video recording of a live performance/installation interspersed with short backstages and interviews
• spaces: closed spaces inaccessible to the public and interesting for architecture, history, location.
• dissemination: the videos will be published online (Vimeo and/or other similar portal) while waiting to define a dissemination in public spaces and occasions such as exhibitions, workshops etc.
The music will be originally composed or chosen specifically for the space in which it will be performed
The interviews will be made to musicians and people connected to the spaces: short or very brief interviews that will give the necessary information to understand what you see and hear, from a musical and historical-architectural point of view as well as the concept of the project.
The intention of Strange Live at is to integrate live performances with videos that are not mere documentary concerts but that add to the musical the specific value of the media used (the music video) to open and (make public even in the absence of real public) interesting spaces otherwise inaccessible (invisible and silent).
We also foresee possible incursions (guerrilla art) in really closed and "inaccessible" spaces: the lightness of the training and technical equipment allow quick and agile interventions (blitz, flash mob) even in spaces of this type.
Possible places: quarries, mines, caves, churches, warehouses, factories, ... abandoned and disused.

1 On these occasions I focused the concept of Elettronica Portativa; anks to its lightness and portability, allows an agile and fast transport and installation as well as the possibility of self-power (batteries 12V and rectifier) which makes it independent of the connection to the electricity supply

A second formation saw Vittoria Panato’s violin integrate with cello and electronics. In 2012 and 2013 the duo Zigante-Gavazza proposed unusual occasions (not to say extreme, especially for live electronics) as the musical excursions made by the group from the Levi Molinari Refuge to Cima Chabriere (2400 m, Val di Susa) accompanied by guide Marco Pozzi. Each formation adds to the common name Strange a word that indicates the number of musicians and a suffix with the initials of their names, to distinguish the different formations, keeping a common name: so far Strange Trio.mpg, Strange Trio.mvg, Strange Duo.mg
